Public Transit

Toronto Transit commission is one of most inefficient public companies in Toronto. Every year, Toronto contributes about $430M to TTC to operate. I will make TTC efficient for every rider and citizen to benefit from.

How?

1. As a new Councilor, I will extend Finch line to Steeles. Collecting $1 toll fee from the 905 commuters. There are approximately 60,000 riders from the 905 area, which will generate $2 million dollars every month and we can pay off in 12~13 years.

2. I will introduce double-decker buses to use in the busiest route. TTC currently has no adaptation plans towards the Double-decker bus nor Mini bus.

  • The cost of each double-decker bus is $800,000. It is just $66,000 more of Hybrid Electric bus and $140, 000 less than the extended bus/bended bus.

  •  Hybrid buses are not as fuel efficient as we know and it cost $734,000 which is $66,000 more to provide better and more comfortable buses for riders.

  • No more extended bus/bended bus. This is because each unit cost about $940,000, and each unit takes up double the road spaces due to their horizontal design. And that is unhelpful to the gridlock and congestion on the road.

3. Mini bus for residential areas with smaller mobility demands. Mini buses are by far the cheapest and most  convenient solutions for bus services with smaller mobility demands. We have seen that empty and noisy buses running on residential small routes. The efficiency of Mini buses are proved by notorious gridlock countries like Korea, Japan and Hong Kong. The Mini bus will cost less than half the unit prices and half the maintenances and it is a lot friendlier and less noisy to use.
